The Summer I Decided to Get Dressed
This summer, I kept thinking about the show everyone seems to be talking about — The Summer I Turned Pretty.
It’s a story about change, growth, and transformation. And honestly? That theme feels so close to what I’ve witnessed with my clients this season.
For so many of us, summer can be a turning point — a season when we finally decide to show up differently. To get dressed with intention. To let style reflect who we are becoming, not just what’s convenient.
This was the summer I saw women decide to embrace their confidence through style.
TJ: From Nervous to Confident
One of my clients, TJ, attended a special event this summer. She shared afterward:
“Everything was perfect and beautiful. Jordan and his wife Kafui seem so very happy.
I felt confident in my outfits! I received many nice compliments. I’m so glad to have met you — it has boosted my confidence.”
Moments like these are why I love what I do. Clothes don’t just cover us. They shape the way we walk into a room, the energy we carry, and the way we celebrate life’s milestones.
LL: Walking the World Differently
Another client, LL, told me:
“Thank YOU!!! I am so thankful to have found you — you have made such a difference in my life!! I walk around the world feeling like a more confident person because of you and the clothes you found for me!! 🥹🤍”
That word — confidence — keeps coming up. It’s the quiet superpower of style. It’s not about trends or rules, it’s about clothes that actually feel like you.
A Fresh Start at Work
And then there was a client stepping into a new season of life at work. She shared with me:
“Thank you SO MUCH, Annie! I am so excited to get up and go to work tomorrow — thanks to YOU! Shopping is so hard for me and you made this so fun and easy. I am so thankful and appreciative — and my spouse is so proud of me. Thank you!!”
Getting dressed should never feel like a chore. When your wardrobe finally clicks, it gives you the freedom to focus on what really matters — whether that’s family, career, or celebrating the people you love.
Style in Real Life
These simple pieces — a lightweight sweater, structured jacket, classic belt, and everyday denim — became the foundation of confident dressing for my clients this summer

The Real Transformation
This summer, I realized something: finding your style isn’t about chasing the perfect dress or the right pair of jeans. It’s about choosing to get dressed for the life you want to live.
For my clients, that choice led to confidence, joy, ease — and yes, compliments. For me, it led to the reminder that style is transformation, and transformation starts the moment you decide to say yes to yourself.
So this wasn’t the summer I turned pretty.
It was the summer I decided to get dressed.
